She has worked in the Family Violence and Child Abuse Bureau of the Manhattan District Attorney’s office and as a Law Guardian in the Juvenile Rights Division of the Legal Aid Society in New York City. She has worked in private practice as an Adoption Attorney and is a four-time published author in “Adoption Quarterly.” She is the recipient of the New York University School of Law LSPIN scholarship, which enabled her to work as a children’s educational advocate at Advocates for Children and has served as a representative on the Children and the Law Committee at the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. She is an accomplished veteran litigator with experience in all aspects of Family Law including child protective cases, child adoptions, juvenile delinquency cases, educational law, and divorce. While she loved her time in the courtroom, she has learned too clearly that families never win when their personal matters are decided in an adversarial manner. Karen genuinely likes people and enjoys facilitating positive relationships between couples. She considers it an honor to be able to help families during the difficult time of the end of a marriage.
Karen has been a certified Divorce Mediator since 2001 and continues to supplement her trainings at the Center for Divorce Mediation in New York. She is certified in Collaborative Law from the New York Association of Collaborative Professionals. She is an active member of the New York State Council on Divorce Mediation, the Academy of Professional Family Mediators, and the New York Association of Collaborative Professionals. In addition to her private practice, Karen is on the Westchester County Matrimonial/Family Mediation Roster and accepts cases assigned directly from the Court.
Karen recognizes that Divorce is one of the most stressful life events one can encounter and is thrilled that she can help make the process easier. She is proud of her success in helping families get through critical life changes and thrives on seeing families find peaceful solutions that are tailored to their specific needs. Karen successfully steers couples away from negative history and feelings and focuses them on the future.
