Thoughtful Prenuptial and Postnuptial Agreements

What is a Prenuptial Agreement?

A Prenuptial Agreement (often called a prenup) is a legal contract that a couple signs before getting married.  It sets out how to handle certain financial matters during the marriage and, if the marriage ends.

Why should I get a Prenup?

When you get married, you are not hoping or expecting to get divorced.  But having a Prenup can protect both parties and clarify financial expectations both during the marriage and, if necessary, after.  Many people find that having a Prenup actually takes financial stress out of a marriage and provides for a better relationship.  It is comforting and smart to know where you financially stand should a marriage end.
